Welcome one and all to Sugarcreek to experience the many splendors of the Holiday Season. After the lights have been strung around the trees with care, the Village of Sugarcreek will unveil a welcome to all.
Christmas in the Village will kick off on Friday, November 25 at 5:15 p.m. under a tent in downtown Sugarcreek.

Events for Friday, November 25
5:15 – The Sounds of Christmas will echo in the downtown as Carols are sung by a community choir.

5:30 – The Candle Lighting Ceremony begins as an unsung hero is honored, a Christian message of the season is shared and the pears on Sugarcreek’s Partridge in a Pear Tree are spotlighted. Also see the dedication of the Tom Miller Brick Sculpture.

6:00 – Moonlight Madness begins as the stores reopen after the Christmas Lights have been turned on. Gather under the tent for hot chocolate (served up by the OSF Queen and her court), fun and games for kids inside the tent and at the library, and chances for shoppers to receive tickets at the stores during Moonlight Madness in hopes of winning a Sugarcreek Shopping Spree. (Winner will be drawn at the Saturday SBA Mystery Auction.) Many stores will be open till 9 p.m. and offer incredible deals to one and all.

Warm up at a Soup Supper at First Mennonite Church 4 – 6:30 p.m.

Events for Saturday, November 26

8:30 – 10:30 – Breakfast with Santa, at the Sugarcreek United Methodist Church. Freewill donation for breakfast, and free photos and gift bags for Garaway District children (12-and-under).

Noon – 2 – Soup and Sandwich Lunch (freewill donation) by Union Hill United Methodist Church, and Bake Sale by Young Life, at Sugarcreek Fire Department.

12:30 – Mystery Gift Auction, at Sugarcreek Fire Department. This auction is filled with “gifts” from members of the Sugarcreek Business Association. Each box is decorated and filled with a gift worth at least $25. Several boxes will have cash, including one with a crisp $100 bill. All funds raised will be given to the Sugarcreek Fire Department for their Christmas for Kids campaign.

We hope to one and all throughout both Friday and Saturday.

Children are invited to Breakfast with Santa on November 26th at the United Methodist Church on Broadway. I extend a warm invitation to visit and enjoy what Sugarcreek has to offer.

With the warm weather we have enjoyed for the past few days it is hard to believe that it is officially the month of November.
The Sugarcreek Business Association is gearing up for our annual celebration of of the holiday season known simply as Christmas in the Village. We invite everyone to join us in Downtown Sugarcreek on the steps of Sweet Basil beginning at 5:15 p.m.
Don’t forget to warm up at the soup supper held from 4 – 7 p.m. at the Sugarcreek First Mennonite Church located just a few hundred feet from the square of downtown Sugarcreek. Cost is by donation!
After the community choir has sung, the program to honor an unsung hero of Sugarcreek will begin with gusto. A message of the season will be delivered by Pastor Ellen Mills of the Shanesville Lutheran Church. Children from the Garaway Local School District will throw the switch on lights in the downtown area and the artists of the pears on Sugarcreek’s Partridge Tree will be honored.
After 6 p.m., there will be treats at various stores, goodies for the kids at the Sugarcreek Library and plenty of bargains. Don’t forget to sign up to win Sugarcreek’s Snowman Shopping Spree at participating businesses!

Happy Thanksgiving to all and we hope to see you at Christmas in the Village.

If this is your first visit to The Little Switzerland of Ohio, we welcome you. If you are returning visitor, welcome back!
At times the traffic may back up a bit and there are so many choices for things to do and places to experience, but we know you will find Sugarcreek has a charm all its own.
Locals and visitors alike will want to help the Sugarcreek Fire Department celebrate its 125th year at its Open House set for Sunday, October 10. There will be tours of the Sugarcreek Fire Department as well as a history of the group. Refreshments will be served.
Plans are taking shape for Christmas in the Village slated for Black Friday, November 26 and Saturday, November 27. Make plans now to attend.
Until next month, take care and enjoy fall beauty in Sugarcreek.

It’s hard to believe fall is already upon us. The crisp cool mornings and evenings remind me of football and Swiss Festival. I can’t believe it is here already. It seems like the Fabulous 50s Fling was just a couple weeks ago. This summer has flown by.

Swiss Festival time is here. There is always something for everyone and lots of people in town to keep all of us busy. Hope to see you all there.
The 58th annual Ohio Swiss Festival is set for September 29 – October 2. There will lots to see, do, touch, taste and hear. We have not one, but two parades that weekend and both are sure to be packed with plenty of Kodak moments – so don’t forget your camera!
The Fabulous Fall Sugarcreek Community Garage Sales are always a great way to clean out things you have accumulated over the summer – so plan now to take part. And for those of you who are out of town guests – plan your trip to Sugarcreek for October 15 and 16 for this year’s sales! Maps will be available at the Alpine Hills Museum from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. both days.
Until next time – enjoy the many shades of fall.
